Jesús H. Vichareli

Died: December 10, 2019
Location: San Antonio, Texas

Jesús H. Vichareli, 87, peacefully passed away on December 10, 2019, in San Antonio, Texas where he lived the last ten years. He was born at San Rafael Farm in Webb County on October 15, 1932, to Marina and Atilano Vichareli and was the middle son of five children.

He was married for sixty-one years to the late Rita Gonzalez Vichareli. Jesús enlisted in the United States Navy during the Korean War, used the G.I. Bill to attend Texas A&M University and became a devoted educator.

He worked for the Laredo Independent School District his entire career, beginning as a teacher at L.J. Christen Jr. High School and continuing his career at Martin High School as a science teacher. He retired after 32 years of teaching.

He was a dedicated, hard-working family man. At times, working up to three jobs to provide for his family. Jesús was a man of integrity and honor, with his family's best interest at heart. He was a quiet, unassuming gentleman who was widely respected by all who knew him.

He is survived by his five children, Patricia (John) Crawford of Kansas City, Missouri, Sara Alicia Hardin of Flower Mound, Texas, Jesus H. Vichareli, Jr. of Laredo, Texas, Ana Laura (Christopher) Maier of San Antonio, Texas, and Irene (Douglas) Smith-Pierce of New Castle, Delaware; thirteen grandchildren and one great grandson.

Jesús was the last survivor of the Atilano Vichareli and Marina Villarreal family and is preceded in death by his wife, Rita Gonzalez; grandsons, Domenico Jesus Vichareli and Tomas Agustin Vichareli; sons-in-law, Ricky Lynn Smith and James Hardin and great granddaughter, Naomi Faith Dohr. Pallbearers will be Jesus' grandchildren.

To celebrate the life of this extraordinary man, Rosary will be on Thursday, December 26, 2019, at 7pm in the evening at Porter Loring Mortuary, 2102 N. Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, Texas 78232. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10am Friday morning, December 27, 2019, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2523 Huebner Road, San Antonio, Texas 78258. Committal services and interment with full Military Honors will follow at 1pm in the afternoon, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Texas 78209.
