Gordon W. Wilson
Thursday, February 15th, 1940 - Friday, December 6th, 2019

Mr. Gordon W. Wilson, age 79, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2019 at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Waxahachie after a brief illness. He was born on February 15, 1940 in Baytown, Texas to William George Wilson and Eva Shepard Wilson.

Upon graduation in 1958 from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, Gordon began his studies at Texas A&M School of Architecture. He was in the Texas A&M class of ’64 and then began a long and busy career as an architect. Gordon designed over 75 banks in Texas as well as jails, schools and many commercial structures. He designed projects for the cities of Sherman, Dallas, Ennis, Waxahachie and Corsicana.

He married Debbie Castellow Hickey in August of 1990 and they began a long and happy life, traveling and entertaining. He loved his “special” place in Leakey, Texas where he and Debbie would float the Frio River. Gordon loved to work in the yard and always sculptured and manicured their yard to the finest, but his true love was golf. Gordon at one time had been a scratch golfer and enjoyed playing golf with his “Warrior” friends at Royal Oaks Country Club in Dallas. He taught Debbie how to play golf and she taught him how to fish.

Gordon is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mary Virginia Wilson Pierce.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Wilson of Corsicana, son Wade Wilson and wife, Shannon Wilson of California, stepson Mark Hickey and wife, Amanda Hickey of Magnolia, Texas, grandchildren Luke Wilson, Makena Wilson, Zachery Hickey and Hannah Hickey. Brothers Jerry Wilson and Charles Wilson and numerous nephews and nieces, including special niece Monica Moore of Mildred, special nephew Matthew Castellow of Roanoke, special great nephews Ashton Moore and Brennan Moore of Mildred and special great niece Ava Castellow of Roanoke.

No formal visitation is scheduled at this time. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at 11:00AM at Northside Baptist Church with Dr. Rick Lamb and longtime friend Pastor Troy Miles officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Zachery Hickey, James Moore, Ashton Moore, Brennan Moore and Steven Pierce. Honorary pallbearers will be the “Warriors” of Royal Oaks Country Club. A private burial will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston, Texas at a later date.
