Dr. Arthur E. Garner

Dr. Arthur E. Garner, 87 of Amarillo, Tx went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 25, 2019.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 30, 2019, at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Garner officiating. Graveside services will follow at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Director.

Dr. Garner was born November 11, 1932 in Sherman, Texas to Arthur G. Garner and Willie Elizabeth Young Garner. He married Angeline Kincaid Wilson on August 5, 1956 at the Baptist Student Union at LSU.

Arthur graduated from Amarillo High in 1951. He went on to graduate from Texas A&M in 1955 and Baylor dental college in 1960. Arthur practiced dentistry in Amarillo for 43 years and was a member of the American and Texas Dental Associations along with membership in the Panhandle District Dental Society.

Arthur was a man of integrity, dedication, and honor. Most importantly, he was a man of God who served this community with love. He was a member of the Gideons International and a deacon and trustee of Trinity Baptist Church. He spent 30+ years as a missionary dentist in Mexico for the Rio Grande River Ministries. He was a CASA volunteer, a member of the downtown Kiwanis club, and the Lake Tanglewood Lions Club. Angeline and Arthur lived at Lake Tanglewood for 23 years where Arthur was a volunteer fireman. At age 79, Arthur went back to school to become an EMT for Lake Tanglewood Ambulance service.

Arthur proudly served on the High Plains Baptist Hospital Board and was chairman of the board at BSA health system. He was a member of the Board of Baptist Community Services and chairman of the Board of High Plains Christian Ministry Foundation. One of his favorite volunteer opportunities was his work with Heal the City.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, brother Andrew Garner, sister Laura Long, brother Rufus Garner and grandson Jake Bragg.

He is survived by his wife Angeline of 63 years, his children Beth Kettenring and husband Tim, David Garner and wife Lori, Kathryn Roush and husband Rowdy, and Keith Garner and wife Karen. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Arthur is also survived by his brother, George Keith Garner and sister, Nancy Garner.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made to Heal the City at 609 South Carolina St., Amarillo, Tx. 79106.

The family would like to thank his dedicated and loving caregivers and nurses.
