Roy M. Crawford, Jr.
January 13, 1950 ~ November 13, 2019 (age 69)

Roy Crawford, age 69, of Forney, TX passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 after fighting lung cancer for the past year. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 14 at 2:00pm at the Hella Shrine in Garland.

Roy was born on January 13, 1950 in Greenville, TX. He was the son of Roy Milton Crawford, Sr. and Evelyn Browning Crawford. He grew up in the west Texas towns of Bovina and Groom, and then spent the last two years of high school in Lake Dallas.

He was a 1972 graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Education. Roy went on to earn his Master of Science degree from East Texas State University in 1975. He worked as an Agricultural Science teacher and FFA advisor for 32 years at Lancaster High School. In addition to those responsibilities, Roy also served as the Career and Technology Education Director for the last several years before his retirement in 2004. He followed in his father’s footsteps and taught thousands of students the importance of agriculture, as well as instilling life lessons such as leadership, responsibility, and work ethic.

After retiring, Roy worked at Huffhines Gas for 11 years and also assisted in the Livestock Department during the State Fair of Texas for several seasons. His most recent job was at Tractor Supply Company. Roy was also an active member of the Lancaster Masonic Lodge for 39 years and a member of The Scottish Rite. In his spare time, Roy enjoyed reading, fishing, hunting, golf, playing dominos, and doing crossword puzzles.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Jean Crawford, his daughter Jill Goldberg and her husband Roger, daughter Shari Huffman and her husband Adam, three grandchildren Ryann Goldberg, Ian Goldberg, and Abbey Huffman, and sisters Patricia Braxton and Judy Babcock. The family would like to thank the Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point for their services.
