Michael Wells
September 13, 1946 - October 06, 2018

Michael Wells, age 72, passed away on October 6, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born to Byron and Rose Wells on September 13, 1946 in Mercer Island, Washington. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Rose Wells; children: Michael Byron Wells and wife Cheryl, Carol Cruz Wells and Christopher Niven Wells; grandchildren: Isabel Rosa Smith, Alexandra Estela Smith, Veronica Cruz Smith, Raquelle Quitugua, Michael Steven Wells, Mary Carol Conger, Derek Adan Wells and Rosa Cruz Wells; great-granddaughter: Estela Rosa Dukes; nephews: David Wells and Patrick Wells; as well as numerous other family members and friends. Michael served his country proudly for more than 20 years in the US Army, retiring as a Sergeant First Class. He served during the Vietnam War as well as the Persian Gulf War, earning many awards and honors, including the Bronze Star Medal with Valor and the Meritorious Service Medal. After his retirement from the military he continued serving as a High School History Teacher for several school districts including Navasota ISD.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00PM on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839 or at https://www.redcross.org/donate/donation.html/
