Bradley Dale Childs
August 25, 1980 - October 27, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear son and brother, Bradley Childs, of Rapid City and Austin, Texas. Brad passed away on Oct. 27, 2019.
He was born in Traverse City on Aug. 25, 1980 to Randy and Karen Childs, of Kalkaska. In 1989 the family moved to Longview, Texas, where Brad graduated from high school. He attended Texas A & M University and graduated with a degree in computer science. He was a software engineer and was employed by IBM and most recently the software company Red Hat.
Brad loved Austin, Texas, and Torch Lake equally and had a home in each place. One of his favorite activities was cruising Torch Lake in his vintage pontoon boat. In Austin, Texas, he loved socializing with friends and visiting the local thrift shops in search of hidden treasures. He was a gentle soul who loved to laugh and loved making others laugh with his dry wit. He enjoyed cooking and technology and was accomplished in both.
He is survived by his parents, Randy and Karen (Johnson) Childs; his brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Katrina Childs; his dachshund, Frank; and his niece and nephew, Keller and Kora Childs.
A graveside service will be held in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, we would like donations to be given to the Humane Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
