Born: March 9, 1945
Died: October 29, 2019
Location: Terrell, Texas
Aubrey Lee Roland of Terrell, Texas was born March 9, 1945 in Dallas, Texas the son of Buna Ann Hall Roland and George Aubrey Roland. He went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 29, 2019. He is survived by his wife Iris, son Rodney, daughter Raini and their mother Carolyn Herman. Rodney's wife Kristy and their children AJ, Karlee and Jagger. Raini's husband Doug and their children, Collin and Carolann Day. He was the first of 5 children and is survived by his sibilings, Bill and Marilou Roland, Ron and Julia Roland, Linda Wallace, and Johnny and Julie Roland. Step children Ricky and Laurie Blair, Lori and David Lindsey and their children, Blair, Josh, Fallon, Corbin, Andre, JP and Brian. Many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins of the Hall, Wynne and Roland families.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, brother in law Johnny Keith Wallace, and uncles Cliff, Howard and Marvin Jr. Hall.
Lee grew up in Garland and graduated from Garland High in '63. After graduation he went down to College Station, was in the Corps of Cadets and graduated from Texas A&M with a BS in Dairy Science in '67. He spent many years with Borden welcoming son Rodney into the world in '69 and then transferring to Houston and welcoming his daughter Raini in Houston in 74'. While working at Borden he began working on his Doctorate of Jurisprudence. He passed the Bar and moved back home to Garland and setup a law practice and real estate management company. Service to community was important to Lee and he served on the City Council, Planning Commission and local FFA stock show in Garland for many years.
Later in life Lee went back to his true passion of cowboying, raising cattle and training wild horses. He and Iris bought a small piece of land in Point, Texas where he raised chickens, horses, and the odd cow or burrow. Lee and Iris loved living in Rains County. He loved driving the back country roads of Rains County so much he served as the road and bridge administrator for Rains. He lived close to his sister Linda and kept close tabs on her family there. They were active members of Bull Creek Cowboy Church in Lone Oak. Lee became a Mason while living in Point. He always wanted to give back and the Masons commitment to service meshed well with his ideals.
Lee loved being a part of a large extended family. If you are reading this and part of the family, know that he loved you. He probably knew and cared more about your children, cousins, aunts and uncles than you will ever know. Lee never missed an opportunity to get together with his brothers and sister. He cherished the time he, Bill, Ron, Linda and Johnny got together with all their children, especially all those wonderful Roland/Wallace Christmas's. He kept a special place in his heart for all his grandchildren, know that he loved each and every one of you.
Dad lived the words love is patient, love is kind and no one saw that more than his children, who will miss him the rest of our lives.
Visitation Friday November 1, 2019 from 6-8:00 pm at the Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home 2925 5th Street Sachse, Texas 75048. Celebration of Life Saturday November 2, 2019 at 10:00 am at FBC Garland, Texas.
