Charles Wayne ‘Chuck’ Kinney
December 15, 1931 - June 10, 2019

Charles Wayne ‘Chuck’ Kinney bid this life farewell on June 10, 2019.
He was born December 15, 1931, in Brownwood, Texas to Cecil & Mary Kinney and throughout his life remained close to his surviving sister, Louise.

Chuck graduated from high school in Talpa, Texas in 1949 and attended Tarleton State University before moving to Texas A&M. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1952 and served through 1954. Shortly thereafter, he married the love of his life, Ann Dresing, on Thanksgiving Day of 1954. They started their lives together in College Station, TX where Chuck graduated from Texas A&M Class of ’57 with degrees in petroleum and geological engineering. Chuck succeeded in the oil & gas industry with stops in Midland / Odessa, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Kansas, Ohio, and frequent visits to Alaska’s pipeline projects. During those years, they welcomed three children, who were blessed to be born into a loving home with Dad as “Captain of the ship”.

Chuck held a position as President of Geo Vann, Inc, before retiring from a successful career in the oil & gas industry. He and Ann began their next chapter in Walden on Lake Conroe, where he enjoyed golf, boating, singing in the Church Choir and in the Walden Follies, traveling – especially to his favorite playground in Colorado, feeding his seagulls, and socializing with many new friends. They had finally realized their lifelong dream to live by the water.

Chuck was a devoted husband and father, fun-loving, steady, generous, with a hand always outstretched and a warm smile. He was never too busy for his kids, never missed a recital, a concert or a play, a sports game or a curfew………no matter how far his business travels took him.
He taught us what it meant to be a wonderful father, and shaped our lives profoundly.
He was our steadfast champion, best friend, protector, and life partner.
His was a life well lived and to us, he was close to perfect.

Chuck will be so very missed by his wife of nearly 65 years, their son John and wife Seana, daughters Lisa and husband Bruce, Kristin and husband Bill, along with grandsons Bryan and Christopher, and extended loving family.

Chuck’s life will be honored and remembered at Grace Lutheran Church in Conroe, on June 15 at 11:30 am, followed by a reception at the Walden Yacht Club in Montgomery. We welcome all who can join us to share a memory, recall one of his jokes or kind deeds, as there were many.

In lieu of flowers, reach out to a neighbor, meet a new friend, make someone laugh, raise a glass, enjoy life to its fullest, or give to a charity of your choice. Chuck would like that.

Dad, your work here is done. We love you and will miss you more than words can say. You have given us gifts that are more precious than anything in this world. May flights of angels carry you home.
