APRIL 17, 1952 ~ SEPTEMBER 27, 2019 (AGE 67)
Roy Edwin Burnett Jr, 67, passed away peacefully at home in Denton, Texas, on Friday, September 27, 2019.
Roy was born on April 17, 1952 in Brownsville, Texas to Roy and Helen Burnett. He attended Brownsville High School, was very musically oriented and played trumpet in the band. Roy graduated from Texas A&M University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree
in Biology. He then graduated from East Texas State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and a Master of Science degree in Computer Science. He also furthered his studies at various universities. He was a self learner
who chose a career in software programming and excelled at building computers. Roy had the gifted ability to be able to disassemble a car engine and rebuild it. He was a natural leader and a very loving and caring person to everyone around him especially his
family whom he cherished being with in Ladonia, Texas. He loved enjoying nature and the outdoors especially with his beloved dogs, Molly who will greatly miss him and Tiny, whom he is now united with once again. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Roy was preceded in death by his companion, Judy Minor; parents, Roy and Helen Burnett; brothers, Wesley Walker Burnett and Jerry Lynn Burnett; paternal grandparents, Wesley Young and Rosa Chandler Burnett; maternal grandparents, Bruce Walker and Vona Brucilla
Duke Samuel.
Roy is survived by his sister, Beverly Ann and husband, Ron Bolton of Wichita, Kansas; sister-in-law, Pat Voyles Burnett; nieces, Chantelle Burnett, Kimberly Dolberry and Rachel Bolton; nephews, Timothy Burnett, James Burnett, Morris Burnett and Zachary Bolton.
