Joseph Weldon (Joe) Steede Jr.
1931 - 2019

STEEDE, JR., Joseph Weldon ("Joe") Age 88, died on Friday, October 11, 2019. He was born on July 27, 1931 to Joseph Weldon Steede, Sr, and Oma Inez Steede (nee Morgan). Upon graduation from Marlin High School, he attended Texas A&M University, where he was Commander of his Corps of Cadets Unit, earning a B.S. in civil engineering in 1952. After serving his country in the U. S. Air Force as a First Lt. in the Korean War, Joe settled into his civil engineering practice. Early in his career, he worked for several companies, including U.S. Steel in Waco, Texas, Cabot Corporation in Pampa, Texas, and Plains Builders in Amarillo. He moved to Dallas in 1972 where he raised his family and operated his own business, Steede & Associates, a civil and structural engineering firm, for over 40 years. He was a licensed P.E. in several states. He is survived by his brother Richard Steede of San Antonio, two sons Kevin and Craig Steede, daughter Karen Steede-Terry, son-in-law David Terry, grandchildren Ariel Morgan Terry (age 14), Joseph Franklin "Jeff" Terry (age 10), and his wife Naomi. He also has two step-daughters June Vayo, Tania Perkins, her husband Philip Schneiderjan, and their children Alex (25), Kaia (19), Chase (18), and Atalie (12). He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.
