Lee Stephen Hunt
April 06, 1951 - October 08, 2019

Proud Texan Lee Stephen Hunt, a longtime resident of Plano, Texas, went peacefully to Heaven in his home on October 8, 2019 at the age of 68.

Mr. Hunt was born on April 6, 1951 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Howard Hunt and Betty (Soderland) Hunt.

He attended MacArthur High School in Irving, Texas and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1973 with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with honors (Magna Cum Laude).

Lee was a loving husband, son, and father genuinely dedicated to family. He was a gentleman.

He was an avid reader and student of history. Throughout his life he enjoyed studying ancient history, Biblical archeology, Roman coins, and American military history with a focus in the American Civil War. He was dedicated to the historic preservation of Civil War battlefields throughout the nation, and enjoyed traveling to those historic sites.

He was a longtime NFL football fan from the very early days of the Dallas Cowboys at the Cotton Bowl. He continued that love of football through his sons’ participation in Plano Senior High School Wildcat football and attended their games for over 25 years. Other hobbies included riding motorcycles, playing the trumpet, soccer refereeing, coaching sports, strategic gaming, and playing cards and board games with friends and family.

Most importantly, Lee was a firm believer that life’s top priority should be one’s faith and relationship with God, the Word of God, and the belief in Jesus Christ as our Savior and salvation. He chose to be a long time member of Hunters Glen Baptist Church because of the special Christian fellowship and friendships he enjoyed there. He also believed in the strength of family, developing a career, having a passion for what one chooses to do in life, working hard, fulfilling commitments, and to have fun along the way.

Lee is survived by his father, Howard Hunt; wife, Betty Hunt; sons, Christopher and Brent Hunt; daughter-in-law, Veronica Hunt and soon to be born granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Hunt and sister, Karen Hunt.

A funeral service will be held at Hunters Glen Baptist Church, 4001 Custer Road, Plano, Texas on Friday, October 11, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. with a viewing beginning at 9:30 a.m. The burial will follow at Restland Memorial Park in the Garden of Devotion at 11:45 a.m.

If it is your wish, the family suggests donations, in Lee’s name, to The Gideons International, The Gideons International Processing Center, P. O. Box 97251, Washington, DC 20090-7251, phone: (866) 382-4253 or www.gideons.org/donate.
