Robert P. (Bob) Devine, Jr.

El Dorado Hills, CA - Robert (Bob) Devine Jr. passed away after a long illness at age 76 on September 21, 2019 in El Dorado Hills, CA. He was the first child of Robert P. Devine and Dorothy Heimlich Devine. He lived most of his early life in Corpus Christi, TX. He is survived by a brother, Michael D. Devine of Tallahassee, a sister Vicki Devine Jud of Houston and two daughters, Paige Devine Nunez of Denver, CO and Mandy Devine Byrne of Austin, TX. He was predeceased by his parents and his wife Sue Torrao Devine.

As a youngster growing up in Corpus, "Bobby" played every sport possible, often with his 13-month younger brother, Mikey, tagging along, including Cub Scouts , Little League and Pony League baseball and junior high and high school football. Bob graduated from W.B. Ray High School in Corpus Christi in 1961 where he was a junior on the 1959 State High School Championship Football Team. He then attended Texas A&M University where he graduated with a B.S. in Finance in 1965, at the same time receiving a Commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. In the summer 1965 he married Pamela Ehlers also of Corpus Christi. From 1966 to 1968 he served for 2 years on active duty as an Instructor for Officers Candidate School in Ft. Lee, VA after which he was honorably discharged. He then returned to Texas and received an M.B.A. degree in 1970 from the University of Houston while working at Gulf Oil Company. He was then transferred to Pittsburgh, PA to continue working for Gulf Oil, and then in 1985 he moved to the San Francisco Bay area when Gulf Oil merged with Chevron and his family settled in Danville, CA. In 2000 Bob remarried Sue Torrao and after retiring from Chevron they moved to El Dorado Hills, CA to be near her adult children and their families. Bob will be greatly missed by his stepsons Steven and David and his grandkids Isabella 17, Conner 16, Sophia 14, and Caden 14.
