Jack Leon Kovar
October 09, 1947 - September 22, 2019

JACK LEON KOVAR, 71, of Bellville, Texas, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2019, in Sealy, Texas.


He was born October 9, 1947, in Houston, Texas, the son of Edward William and Ina B. (Casanova) Kovar. Jack grew up and attended schools in the Houston area, graduating from Jones High School in 1966. He enrolled in Texas A&M earning his bachelor’s degree. Jack was employed as a mechanical engineer for a petroleum refinery.


He was united in marriage to Christy Urban, on December 29, 1983, in Houston. Jack and Christy were members of the Christian Faith Church in Bellville. He was a member of the Texas A&M Alumni and in his spare time enjoyed doing many different projects.


Jack is survived by his wife: Christy Kovar of Bellville; daughters: Rachel Garland of Huffman, and Corey Birdwell and her husband, Justin, of Bellville; sons: Ross D. Kovar and his wife, Michelle, of League City, Russell A. Kovar and his wife, Nicholle, of Magnolia, and R. Scott Birdwell and his wife, Amy, of Cypress; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; sister: Shirley Kovar and her husband, Larry, of Lakewood, CO; brothers: Eddie Kovar, Jr. of Brenham, and Gary Kovar of College Station; aunts: Doris and Rosalie; uncle: Harry Kovar; and numerous other family members and dear friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ina Kovar and his sister, Brenda.



Pallbearers are Ross Kovar, Scott Birdwell, Gary Wayne Kovar, Kenny Peacock, Cameron Jones, Cole Kovar, Rachel Garland, Tripp Garland and Keirsten Garland.

Honorary Pallbearers are Eddie Kovar and Gary Kovar.
