James Curtis Davis
May 12, 1949 - September 21, 2019
James Curtis Davis passed away, surrounded by family, on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at age 70, after succumbing to pneumonia. He was born on May 12, 1949 in Cameron, TX to James W. and Marie Maddox Davis. He graduated from Cameron HS in 1967 and enrolled
in Blinn Jr. College before transferring to Texas A&M. Following his graduation in 1967 with a B.S. in Agricultural Education, he enlisted in, and proudly served, in the United States Army Reserve until 1983. Through several job changes, he moved to Huntsville
and continued his education at Sam Houston State University, graduating with a Masters of Education in 1975. Jim began a teaching career at Windham School District that lasted 26 years until his retirement in 2007. It was at this job that he might his wife
Dena. They were married in 1988 and enjoyed 31 years of marriage.
Jim is survived by his mother, Marie Kimbro; his wife, Dena Randel Davis; his step-daughter
and son-in-law, David and Kimberly Ward; grandchildren Kennedy, Carter and Jackson. In
addition, he leaves behind a host of family and friends that love and admire the man he was. Jim loved life and he loved people. He was always up for a game of 42 and a barbecue. He was a man of many hobbies including dove hunting, deer hunting, all things
Texas A&M, Texas HS football and watching the Weather Channel. All those who knew Jim, knew that he enjoyed a good joke and especially loved retelling funny stories from one of his many crazy adventures. Jim cherished his time at his deer lease with wonderful
friends, and his summer trips to Indiana were some of his most treasured memories with family. Although he is gone, his friends will always remember his enthusiasm for life and his willingness to help out in any situation. There will be a visitation and memorial
service at Westway Baptist Church at 12 FM 3179 in Huntsville on Thursday, September 26. Visitation will begin at 10am and the memorial service will follow at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Jim’s name to the Westway Baptist Church Building Fund at 12 FM 3179 Huntsville, TX 77340, or to the charity of your choice.
