MARCH 14, 1943 ~ SEPTEMBER 5, 2019 (AGE 76)

Decatur ~ Billy Carl Burton, 76, a retired Ag teacher, went to be with our Lord Thursday, September 5, 2019 in Decatur.

Celebration of Life is 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the Decatur Church of Christ.

Bro. Brad Bland will officiate.

Billy Carl Burton was born on March 14th, 1943 to Otho Douglas and Leta Mae Burton in Brady, Texas. He was united in marriage to LaQuita Deck on December 31st, 1966 in Eden, Texas. Billy was a 1967 graduate of Texas A&M University having obtained a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Animal Science. Bill retired from the Grapevine Colleyville Independent School District in 2009 after teaching for fifty-one years as an Agricultural Science teacher and Student Advisor. Bill was an active member of the Grapevine Lion’s Club, the Tarrant County Livestock Association and the National Santa Gertrudis Association. He was heavily involved in advocacy for the National and Texas FFA programs, multiple junior cattle associations and most specifically fostering leadership in our youth through Agriculture. Bill was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents and brother Doyle and sister in law Joann Burton of Abilene, Texas.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of fifty-two years, LaQuita Burton of Meridian, Texas; son Brett Burton and wife Jessica of Krum, Texas, son Brooke Burton and wife Jennifer of Alvord, Texas and daughter, Brandi Ables and husband Joe of Decatur, Texas. Mr. Burton leaves behind his sister, Mrs. Bonnie Evans of Eden, Texas, nephews Cody and Joey Evans also of Eden and nieces April Burton Collum and Rose Ann Burton Pratt of Abilene, Texas. Papa B leaves behind seven grandchildren; Brady, Brittany and Brooks Burton and Brennan, Brogan, Briggs and Brylee Ables as well as numerous extended family and a host of former students, fellow teachers, cattle breeders and dear friends.
