Dr. Warner A. Dunn
August 19, 1931 - September 10, 2019

Dr. Warner A. Dunn, age 88, died after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at his home near Lake Nacogdoches. Visitation will be at 10 AM on Friday, September 13, with 11 AM funeral service to follow at Laird Funeral Home. Burial will be in Eden Cemetery.

He was born Warner Aiken Dunn on August 19, 1931 in Houston, to John and Mary Emma Grimes Dunn. He grew up during WWII and attended Houston schools. Then he attended Texas A&M University and served in the Corps of Cadets, graduating in Veterinary Medicine in 1955. For most of his career, he practiced as a veterinarian specializing with small animals. He also worked for a private testing lab, and for USDA in processing plants before retiring.

He married Mayra Alejandra Quintana on March 24,1990 in Nacogdoches.

Warner was a longtime resident of Nacogdoches County. He served on the Nacogdoches School Board and the Angelina and Neches River Authority Board. He was an enthusiastic fisherman, Aggie football fan, cat owner, and gardener of tomatoes and roses. For many years he was a Sunday School teacher and deacon. He loved to study the Bible and published a small devotional book of favorite verses later in life.

He is predeceased by his parents, a brother Pete/John Dunn Jr, and his first wife Barbara Barnes Dunn.

He is survived by his wife Mayra; a sister Nancy McCollum and Harold of Spring; children Linda Fulmer and Barham of Lindale, Mark Dunn and Phyllis of Plano, John Dunn of Bastrop; grandchildren Katy Payne and Nathan of Lindale, Bethany Dunn of Bastrop, Laurel McKeon of Seattle, Jonathan Dunn and Braylee of Bastrop, Karl Fulmer and Alex of Tyler; great grandchildren Sam Payne, Abby Payne, Lydia Payne, Abby Dunn, Cassandra Dunn, Gavin Mucke, Benjamin Fulmer, Emily Fulmer; an aunt Alice Donnell and Sam of Melrose; nieces and nephew Denise Hall, Susan Peitzman, Penny Bowman, Mary Vitek, Tim McCollum.
