Died: Jul 30, 2019

Rajanikant D. Desai, age 78 of Hackettstown, NJ, died peacefully Tuesday, July 30, 2019 in Bentley Commons at Paragon Village, Mount Olive, NJ. Raju was born March 29, 1941 in Karwar, India. He came to the United States in 1963 to earn his Masters of Science degree in Chemistry at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX.

After living in Plainfield, NJ for a few years, he and his wife, Bina built a house and settled down in Andover, NJ in 1970. He was employed by Reheis, Inc. as an analytical chemist for many years before retiring. He had a great love for classical Indian music as evidenced by his deep study, practice and performances of percussion on the tabla. He had a strong passion for traveling and experiencing different sights and cultures around the world. His love of photography was proudly displayed throughout their home, showcasing all the beautiful sights he captured during his travels with his wife and family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Bina, their three children Vaishali, Amrita and Chetan, their son-in-law Arun, daughter-in-law Mary, and their five grandchildren -- his pride and joy -- Devan, Raina, Jaymin, Joely & Jiya.

A memorial will be held to celebrate his life on Monday, August 5th, between 6pm and 8pm at the Cochran Funeral Home located at 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840
