Dr. Robert John Davidson Sr.
SEPTEMBER 7, 1940 – AUGUST 23, 2019

Dr. Robert John Davidson September 7, 1940-August 23, 2019
Devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Dr. Robert John Davidson went home to the Lord on August 23, 2019. He was blessed to be surrounded by his wife, his children, his grandchildren, and extended family.

Robert was a successful businessman, but his true sense of pride and success was his love for his family. To his very last days, Robert served as a loving leader and role model for his devoted family. When the Lord called, Robert met him with courage and with joy for the promise of the future.

Robert was genuinely optimistic and caring man. He related to people from all walks of life. He never overlooked anyone. Never talked down to anyone. He made everyone he met feel important and gave them the true sense that he cared about them, because he did. Even when battling illness, he would make each person in his family feel important before talking about himself. He treated his doctors and nurses the same way. He would find out how they were, how their families were, and what was going on in their lives before he would begin to talk about himself and how he felt.

In his optimism he taught his children and grandchildren that anything was possible, and he taught them what it means to be a wonderful father and grandfather. Beyond his own family, Robert became a mentor and father figure in the lives of many people he met because he was generous and giving of himself. He knew how to be a true and loyal friend.

Robert's generation did not boast of their achievements, but he had many. He was in the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M. He graduated in 1964 as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He was a Captain in the United States Air Force. He ran a successful veterinary practice in Houston, Texas for decades before changing careers to be in a successful business with two of his sons. More important to Robert than these distinguished achievements, was his family.

Robert is survived by his wife Linda Davidson, his son Robert Davidson, Jr., his son Jeffrey Davidson, and his daughter Janet Davidson Byrd. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law Maria Davidson, and his son-in-law Bryan Byrd. He is survived by his grandchildren Robert Davidson, III, Riley Davidson, Garret Byrd, Gabby Byrd, Jeffrey Davidson, Jr., and Jenna Davidson.
