Clifton (Skip) Parker Carter
DECEMBER 12, 1947 ~ JULY 4, 2019 (AGE 71)

Clifton Parker Carter III passed into the hands of the Lord on July 4. He died peacefully at his home, with his wife holding his hand.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13, at 2:00 p.m. in the historic chapel of the Salado United Methodist Church, where he was a member. The service will be officiated by Reverend David Mosser.

Clifton (Skip) was born in Galveston, Texas, on December 12, 1947. He was the son of Clifton Parker Carter, Jr. and Irma Tidwell Carter. He attended Pasadena High School and graduated in 1966. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1970, with a B.S. degree in Wildlife Science. He enrolled in Graduate School at Texas A&M in Forestry, but was unable to finish due to the death of his father.

Skip was a lifelong avid hunter and fisherman. His other hobbies were bird watching, ethology, reading the Bible and reading books by his favorite authors Edison Marshall and Mario Vargas Llosa. Skip’s real life heroes were Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, Annette Fabree and Jane Goodall. His favorite Biblical person was King David.

Skip married Nancy Shepperd Brotherton on December 21, 2003. Skip and Nancy met on a blind date in 1966. After 37 years, destiny finally caught up to them.

Skip is survived by his wife, Nancy. He is also survived by two daughters, Stacy Vickers and spouse Burt; Carrie Carter and Jim Dekan; three grandchildren, Heike, Heidi and Erick Davis; two stepsons, Chris Brotherton; Patrick Brotherton and spouse Brandy; a stepdaughter Amy Weister and spouse Michael; seven step-grandchildren that he loved as his own: Meggan, Savannah, Travis, Austin, Cierra, Chelsey and Brooklynn; and one step-great grandson, Connor. Skip also leaves behind some of his best friends Troy Hill, Terry Norwood, Susan Moore, Howell Otis Cearley Jr. and the Circle of Grace Sunday School class.

Skip was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Harvey Williamson and Lehman Williamson of Louisiana.

All arrangements will be handled by Broecker Funeral Home in Salado. Burial will be in the Salado Cemetery at a later date.
