John Thomas Estes served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II, in which he won four bronze stars and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross with oak leaf clusters. Mr. Estes served as a tail gunner on a B17 named Baby Ann and was part of the air support for the liberation of France on June 6, 1944.
