Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Llano Cemetery Garden Mausoleum with Monsignor Joseph Tash, pastor of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, and Don Poling officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle.

Mr. Mansfield was born in Indianapolis and had been a resident of the area since 1939. He piloted the B-17 Flying Fortress for the Army Air Corps during World War II. He spent three years in a German prisoner of war camp. He graduated from San Angelo High School where he set the national track record in the 220 yards. He attended Texas A&M University and played on the 1939 national championship football team.

He was a rancher and had served as director and honorary director of Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. He was past president of Panhandle Livestock Association.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Corinne Mansfield on July 7, 1997.

Survivors include a son, Robert Brooks Mansfield of Amarillo; two daughters, Marilyn Houston of Fort Worth and Margaret Kennebeck of Memphis, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The family suggests memorials be to Diabetes Foundation, P.O. Box 50433, Amarillo, TX 79159, Texas Cattle Raisers Foundation, 1301 W. Seventh Ave., Fort Worth, TX 76102, Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174-0001 or a favorite charity.
