Dr. Jimmie Archer Moore
AUGUST 10, 1940 – JULY 9, 2019

Jimmie Archer Moore, 78, follower of Christ, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed peacefully into the hands of our Heavenly Father at home on July 9, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jimmie was born in McAllen and grew up in Hearne, Texas, where he graduated from High School in 1958. As a young man, Jimmie aspired to be a pilot. However, God launched him into the world of computer science during the 1960s.

Dr. Moore earned three degrees: a B.A. from University of Texas and both a M.S. and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Texas A&M University. Dr. Moore worked as a Research Associate and Sr. Systems Analyst from 1967-1987 for TAMU. He was founder and President of Moore Computing Systems, Inc. from 1980-1986. He retired from Bell Helicopter Textron in Fort Worth, Texas, in 2002.

Jimmie never lost his passion for technology and continued seeking situations to serve various organizations with his skills.

As attested by his family and friends, Jimmie’s relationship with God was his highest priority. He had a natural compassion for those who struggled in life. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Bryan. His favorite scripture was ISAIAH 40:31.

Jimmie did not consider himself “a magician” but an amateur illusionist and a ventriloquist. He loved to entertain and share Jesus through these talents with his look-alike puppet, “Dr. Nose-it-all”.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thelma (Archer) Keyser and Johnnie Joe Moore.

Jimmie is survived by his wife, Carolyn Farrar Moore; his daughters, Cheryl Amelang and husband Andrew and Tammie Moore; the mother of his children, Laraine Moore. He is also survived by Carolyn’s son, Troy Farrar and wife Deborah; and Carolyn’s daughter, Stacey Pugh and husband David; and 13 grandchildren, Matthew Moore and Paul, Kurt and his wife Cara, Hannah, Neil, and Mark Amelang, Izabella and Luke Farrar, and Joshua, Joseph, Elizabeth, Anna, and Jonathan Pugh.

Family will receive friends from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Friday, August 9 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. A Celebration of Jimmie’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 10 at First Baptist Church in Bryan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the benevolence fund, First Baptist Church in Bryan.
