Harold Urbanosky, Sr.
May 03, 1931 - July 12, 2019

Harold Jerome Urbanosky, Sr., 88, of Plantersville, died Friday morning, July 12, 2019, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

A gathering of family and friends will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, July 15, 2019, at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 9677 Hwy 6, in Navasota. A vigil service will follow at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass celebrating Harold’s life will be 10:00 am Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at Christ Our Light Catholic Church with Rev. Edward C. Kucera, Jr., pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church in Plantersville, as the celebrant. The rite of committal will follow at 3:00 pm in the Caldwell Masonic Cemetery, 1411 12th St., in Caldwell.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jerome Urbanosky, III, Blake Urbanosky, Matthew Urbanosky, Alexander Urbanosky, Zak Kinnison, Duane Ermis, Cole Harrington and Landon Stem. Names as honorary pallbearers are Christopher Urbanosky, Jim Percell, Jerry Bernhardt, Bruce Moriarity, Cliff Jackson, Victor Ostiguin, Louis Sandidge and Dean Thompson

Harold was born May 3, 1931 in Caldwell to Louis F. and Lenora Novosad Urbanovsky. He graduated from Caldwell High School in 1949 and continued his education at Texas A&M where he was a member of the Ross Volunteers. Harold graduated in 1953 with degrees in mechanical and petroleum engineering/ He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and used his engineering to develop defense weapons.

While at A&M he married Patsy Kornegay on November 9, 1952. They later settled in Pearland and Harold had a long career with Schlumberger Oilfield Services Company where he developed 30 patents for the company. Harold also owned and operated Pearland, Conroe and Tomball Feed Centers and later Bluebonnet Brand Feed. He moved to Plantersville in 1979 and after Patsy death, on August 19, 2006 he married JoAnn Costa Smith.

Harold was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Plantersville as well as Christ Our Light Catholic Church of Navasota. He was also a long time member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed dancing. Harold and JoAnn were a regular dancing couple at the Western Club and Bernhardt Winery’s Sunday evening concerts.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Patsy, a son Bruce Urbanosky and step son, Rex Smith.

Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Costa Smith of Plantersville, sons, H. Jerome Urbanosky, Jr. and wife Jane of Plantersville, Mark Urbanosky and wife Terry of Ardmore, Ok and step-son Rob Smith of LasVegas, NV; brothers, James A. Urbanosky and Thomas F. Urbanosky, both of Caldwell; 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a great number of friends.

For those that desire, the family has requested memorials in Harold’s name to Encompass Hospice or a favorite charity.
