Wilbert Anthony Theriot Jr.
MARCH 4, 1936 – JULY 1, 2019

Wilbert Anthony Theriot Jr., beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away July 1, 2019 at home after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 83. He was born March 4, 1936 in Wright City, Texas to Wilbert Anthony Theriot Sr. and Jane Elizabeth Henderson Theriot. He was the oldest son of 10 children. Wilbert is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sondra Reed Theriot, his two daughters Amy Griggs and husband Steve, Carol Close and husband Sean, and two grandchildren Claire and Colin Close. Wilbert attended Kilgore College and Texas A&M University, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture in 1967. He was a registered Landscape Architect throughout his career. Always a hard worker, he began his career for the city of Dallas and was also one of the first Landscape Architects to start The Woodlands back in the 1970’s. Wilbert loved to be outside nurturing plants. He could fix anything. Wilbert was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 62 years. He was proud to receive the Knights of Columbus Knight of the Year award in 1999 and was honored to be in the 4th degree. Whenever he heard of someone in need or a job to be done, he was always eager to help. He was a volunteer fireman, and he spent a lot of his free time doing service through the Knights of Columbus. His brother Knights were like a second family to him. He was a devoted family man, and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. A visitation for Wilbert will be held Sunday, July 7, 2019 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Metcalf Funeral Directors, 1801 E White Oak Terrace, Conroe, Texas and the rosary will be at 4:30 PM.
