OSCAR LEE ATKINS
JULY 27, 1938 - JUNE 27, 2019

Oscar Lee Atkins, age 80, passed away June 27, 2019, in Mansfield, Texas. The son of the late Dorris and Felton Atkins, Oscar was born July 27, 1938 in Marshall, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Anita, brother, Jim Atkins, daughter, Allison Lanter, son, Blake Atkins, and grandchildren, Amanda, Jonathan, Lindsay, and Jared.

After graduating from Marshall High School, Oscar earned a BS in Architectural Construction from Texas A&M University, and an MS in Architectural Engineering from the University of Texas. Following college, Oscar began working for Shell Oil Company, in New Orleans, Louisiana, designing footings for offshore platforms, later building oil and gas production expertise with two additional New Orleans-based oil and gas companies. Oscar then took his oil and gas production experience to start and become president of Production Management Corporation, in Lafayette, Louisiana, later moving the company to Houston, Texas. Oscar expanded his experience in Houston, starting his own Atkins Production Services, Inc. company and ultimately retiring a 45 year career of oil and gas production, with JX Nippon Oil Exploration.

In addition to being a successful businessman in the oilfield, twice recognized by Inc. Magazine as running one of the fastest growing businesses in the country, Oscar served on the Board of Trustees for the Episcopal School of Acadiana and was active in the Society of Petroleum Engineers, American Petroleum Institute, and Houston Producers Forum.

Oscar and Anita enjoyed entertaining in their home and built close and long lasting relationships with many friends. Oscar was admired by many for his intellect, sense of humor, compassion, and generosity.

A memorial service for Oscar will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 5501 Main Street, Houston, Texas, July 22, 2019 at 2:00p.
