Jan Marie Trimmer
SEPTEMBER 28, 1964 – JUNE 14, 2019

Jan Marie Trimmer of Georgetown, TX passed from this life peacefully at her home on Friday, June 14, 2019.
Visitation will be from 6-8pm at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home (2900 Williams Dr, Georgetown, TX 78628) on Wednesday, June 19. Funeral Services will be held at 10am with a reception to follow on Thursday, June 20 at Hope United at the Heritage Oaks Clubhouse (702 Heritage Oaks Bend, Georgetown, TX 78633). A Committal Service will be at 3pm with a reception to follow at Friedens Church of Washington UCC in Washington, TX, and burial will be at the Friedens Cemetery.

Jan was born September 28, 1964 in Houston, TX, the daughter of Charlie and Bennie Ruth (Ashby) Dickschat. She was baptized and confirmed at Friedens Church of Washington, UCC.

She attended school in Houston until her sophomore year when she moved permanently to her weekend home in Washington, TX, where she attended Brenham High School and graduated in 1983. She attended Blinn Jr. College and Texas A & M with time off in between to work at Brenham Heating and Air. She graduated from Texas A & M in 1990 with a degree in Elementary Education.

She worked as a 2nd grade teacher in Navasota for 16 years.

She married Rev. Ron Trimmer on June 12, 2004 at Friedens Church of Washington, UCC. They adopted two children as newborns, Benjamin Luke Trimmer (now 13) and Aaron Matthew Trimmer (now 10).

In August of 2009, feeling the call of God, Jan and her family moved to Georgetown, TX to start a new church, Hope United, a vibrant, mission-oriented, open and affirming congregation where all are welcome. In 2010, Jan began working at Annie Purl Elementary, GISD, where she taught 1st grade until she retired at the end of the 2019 school year.

Jan was an avid reader, preferring mysteries, especially Agatha Christie. She enjoyed watching TV and playing Canasta and other games, although she hated to lose! She liked cooking and working in the yard with her husband. Jan was a dedicated teacher who really cared about her students. Compassion and care-giving came easily to her, as she took care of her parents in their old age. A bit stubborn and particular, she was a woman of extraordinary faith. During her 6 year battle with Ovarian cancer, she fought with courage and determination, relying on the strength of her God. She was an inspiration and loved by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Ron Trimmer, her two sons, Ben and Aaron of Georgetown, sister Deborah Teter of Pelsor, Arkansas, brother Charles "Bill" Dickschat of Houston, TX.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hope United Church (mailed to 125 Summers Green, Georgetown, TX 78633 or given online at www.HopeGeorgetown.org through their donate page).
