Donna Verner
June 27, 1958 - June 10, 2019
Donna Faye Verner of Rowlett, TX, passed away June 10, 2019, at the age of 60. She was born June 27, 1958, in Fort Campbell, KY, to John D. and Rosetta (Copeland) Johnson. Donna received a Bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Kentucky and a Master’s in Special Education from Texas A&M, and then spent her life teaching. She taught Math and Special Education at Sam Houston, Coyle, Schrade and Rowlett High School. Donna touched the lives of so many during her life and was an advocate for those with disabilities, especially Down Syndrome. In her free time, Donna enjoyed quilting, canning vegetables, reading and studying genealogy. She loved time spent with her husband riding motorcycles and camping. She also cherished and loved spending time with her children and all their activities.
Donna is survived by her husband: Gary Don Verner of Rowlett, TX; children: Andrea, Daniel, Jacob Verner and Jennifer Allen; siblings: Denise Souris and husband Myron of St. Charles, MO, Deanna Young and husband Scott of Pottsboro, TX, David Johnson and wife Marilee of Reidland, KY; grandchildren: Lilyana Verner, Madison and Austin Thomas, Autumn and Tessa Allen. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Dennis Johnson.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Friday, June 14, 2019, at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rowlett Location. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery in Ladonia, TX. The family will gather with friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Memorials may be made to Camp Summit in Paradise, TX, for people of all ages with disabilities. www.campsummittx.org
