Sam F. Rhodes, 78, of Dallas, Texas passed away on Monday, April 29, 2019.
He was born in San Antonio, Texas to Fay Lynn and Faye Kathryn Rhodes on December 27, 1940.
He graduated from Northeast High School (MacArthur High School) in San Antonio and attended Texas Agricultural and Mechanical College (Texas A & M University) class of ’62. Sam was a member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band.
Sam began his CPA (Certified Public Accountant) career at Arthur Anderson before joining Redman Development Corporation as VP of Finance. In 1974, Sam joined Pasquale (Pat) Loncanto to begin a new Division of Management Consulting Team at Touche Ross becoming a partner. Sam left Deloitte Touche to become CEO of Jackson Rhodes Consulting until his retirement in 2012. Sam was a member of Texas Certified Public Accounts and recognized as a 50 year member of AICPA.
Sam was appointed by Governor Abbott to serve on Texas Board of Mental Health and Mental Retardation for 15 years. Sam also served on Board of Directors of Help is Possible, Inc. and Board of Directors of Dallas Safari Club.
Sam was an avid pilot, outdoorsman and conservationist. Sam hunted and fly fished world-wide. He was a life member of Dallas Safari Club, Safari Club International and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He was a member of Dallas Gun Club, Dallas Woods and Water Club, Ducks Unlimited and Delta Waterfowl.
Sam was a member of Park Cities Baptist Church, Hella Shrine, Garland, 32nd Degree Mason of Davy Crockett Lodge No 1225 San Antonio and Tannehill Masonic Lodge No. 52 Dallas.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jeffery Rhodes and is survived by his wife, Judy, sons Marcus and Harrison, his wife Sunita and grandson Jaivin Rhodes A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 21st at 11a at Park Cities Baptist Church (Ellis Chapel) 3933 Northwest Pkwy, Dallas, Texas 75225 Reception Immediately following.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked donations be given to: 125th Year of Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band, Texas Aggie Band Association (TABA).
