Andrea Renee Berg

Born: February 10, 1962
Died: May 23, 2019
Location: San Antonio, Texas

Andrea Renee Berg, 57, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2019 in San Antonio. She was born in New Braunfels, Texas on February 10, 1962 to Atley Berg and Elisabeth Petermann Berg as the youngest of seven children. Andrea grew up in New Braunfels with her parents and siblings, and was known for being a beautiful and vibrant young lady. She attended Canyon High School, and was valedictorian of her class in 1980. When it came to deciding which college to attend, Andrea chose to follow in the footsteps of her father and brothers to attend Texas A&M University College Station to major in nutrition. She then also attended the UT Health Science Center to earn her nursing degree, and worked as a registered nurse for 23 years. Andrea was known for being very kind, hardworking, outrageously funny with a laugh that never stopped, and for being a characteristically headstrong woman. She created many loving friendships with her colleagues and other people she met, and these bonds she shared with them will keep her alive in our hearts and in our minds for eternity.

On top of being a wonderful friend and nurse, she was a loving and dedicated mother to two beautiful daughters: Alyssa and Alexa Peña. She made their lives, education, musical abilities, and well-being the most important things in her life, and never failed to show her daughters, as well as tell them, how much she loved them. Her daughters graduated high school, and are attending Texas A&M University College Station and University of Texas at Austin to major in english and chemistry respectfully. Her daughters will fondly remember car rides where Andrea would belt out her favorite songs at the top of her lungs, her showing them her old photos of her crazy (yet incredibly stylish) 80's hair, and her loving kisses that she gave them whenever she said goodnight, or just because.

Andrea was a lover of all animals, with the dolphin being her favorite by far, and she frequently donated to many charities for animal care. She also was a member of the Aggie Moms Club and was involved in her daughters' orchestra board during their time in high school. She had traveled to and lived in many places throughout the country including Washington D.C. North Carolina, South Carolina, Arizona, Ohio, Illinois, and even the Bahama Islands.

Andrea was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Vivian Daniel and Darylann Wofford; and brothers Norvell and Michael Berg. She is survived by her two daughters; two sisters, Jenelle Ray and Wilene John; numerous nieces and nephews, a lifetime of friends, and her beloved sassy cat, Prince. Memorial services for Andrea will be announced at a later date, and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the San Antonio Humane Society.

In her memory, the family would like to share Andrea's favorite poem "Ride a Wild Horse" by Hannah
Kahn to embody her spirit, her desire for adventure, and her determined attitude.

Ride a wild horse
with purple wings
Striped yellow and black
except his head
which must be red.
Ride a wild horse
against the sky -
hold tight to his wings
before you die
whatever else
you leave undone
once
ride a wild horse
into the sun.
