Memorial services for John Gordon, age 59, will be held 2 P.M., Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Memorial Baptist Church in Oakwood, Texas. Bro. Walter Pickens, pastor of the church, will officiate the service. A visitation for the public will take place Friday, June
7th from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. at Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas.
John Thomas Gordon, III was born July 31, 1959 in Conroe, Texas to John Thomas, Jr. & Iris “Opal” (Howell) Gordon. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelors Degree in Business and went on to work for the Language department at A&M for a number
of years. While living in Bryan, John enjoyed activities, such as, golfing and racket ball. He was very competitive and often gave his brothers a heavy workout when they played against each other. John was also a participant in the Texas Renaissance Festival
near Plantersville. This was a yearly event that he looked forward to and had so much fun dressing up and acting as people from a long ago time.
In 2015, when circumstances called John to move to Oakwood to care for his parents, he gladly made the transition and began work for American Classified Advertising. During this time, John also found a new hobby to keep him entertained, Texas Hold’em Poker.
John passed away June 3, 2019 in Conroe, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, John T. Gordon, Jr. and brother, Larry Mac Shavers. He is survived by his beloved mother, Opal Gordon of Oakwood; brothers, Jimmy Templeton (Jean) of Conroe and Robert Gordon
(Nancy) of Willis; sisters, Christina Pamela Keylich of Lytle and Linda Shaver (Larry) of Oakwood and nieces and nephews, Brandi, Victoria, Dyllon & Guliana Templeton, Kristie Jo Riggs, Josh Ferguson, Melissa Foster, Meghan Shaver and Clayton, Robert, Jimmy
& Kirk Gordon. John is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews and one great, great niece, as well as, numerous beloved friends.
Final arrangements are under the direction of Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas.
