Carl Dee Frentress
November 14, 1944 - May 2, 2019

Carl Frentress passed away Wednesday May 2, 2019, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas with his wife of 48 years, and three children by his side. He was born November 14, 1944, in Athens, Texas, to Ardee Frentress and Cassie Knowles Frentress. He graduated from Athens High School in 1963. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelors of Science in Wildlife Science in 1968. He went into the U.S. Army in 1968 where he served as a medic and dental assistant on an army base in South Korea. He worked for Texas Parks and Wildlife as a wildlife biologist for 32 years and as an environmental wetland consultant from 2004 to 2017. He loved hunting, fishing, reading, writing, and was dedicated to wildlife, and wetland habitat conservation. He is survived by: his wife Sally Frentress; children Hope Sparks, Gabe Frentress, Corey Frentress; siblings Jackie Frentress of Athens, TX, John Frentress of The Colony, TX, and William Frentress of Sunnvale, TX; five grandchildren Lauren Yowell of Tyler, TX, Madison Morriss of Austin, TX, Paxton and Gabby Stevens of Brownsboro, TX, and Cassie Frentress of Athens, TX, and one great-grandchild, Drake Yowell of Tyler, TX. Visitation is Sunday, May 5, at Autry’s Carroll- Lehr Funeral Home from 5pm to 7pm. Services will be held at Living for the Brand Cowboy Church in Athens, TX on Monday May 6 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers the family would request you make a donation to the following: Henderson County Clint W. Murchison Memorial Library, Texas Wildlife Association or the Caddo Lake Institute.
