Susan Marie Vajdak
December 1, 1986 ~ May 25, 2019 (age 32)

Susan Marie (Bender) Vajdak passed away May 25, 2019, at the age of 32.

Susan was born December 1, 1986 in Houston to Terry and Judy Bender. She was close to her sister Laura and brother Brian, and had many friends. As a child, Susan loved to read and ride horses. She also loved Disney movies, which continued throughout her life - she was a huge Harry Potter fan. She loved music, participating in band and choir in school, as well as being in the color guard. She graduated as valedictorian of Barbers Hill High School in 2005 before attending Texas A&M. Susan received her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and Biomedical Science in 2009 and then graduated in 2013 with her DVM. She was proud to have achieved her lifelong dream of becoming a doctor of veterinary medicine.

While attending Texas A&M, Susan met her husband Keith Vajdak at the Snook rodeo. After a night of dancing and talking, they went on their first date the next day. After a great first date of hauling hay, Susan and Keith were always together. They were married on March 11, 2012. Their daughter April Marie Vajdak was born the following year.

Susan worked for Banfield Pet Hospital in College Station. She loved her job and was well loved by everyone she worked with. When she wasn't working, she enjoyed reading, watching movies, baking, and relaxing at home. Susan loved to have fun and spend time with family, as well as riding horses, fishing, hunting, and going to the beach. She was kindhearted and a great friend. Her smile could light up a room. She was reserved and confident, if a bit stubborn, but wonderfully generous as well. She lived her life to the fullest.

Susan leaves behind her husband Keith, her daughter April, her parents Terry and Judy Bender of Beach City, her grandparents Buddy and Claudine Bender of Baytown, her sister Laura Porterfield of Beach City, her brother Brian Bender of San Francisco, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and friends.

To honor Susan's life, her family has planned a visitation on Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 6-8 at Hillier Funeral Home of Bryan. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you consider making a memorial contribution in Susan's name to either the Susan G. Komen Foundation or to the ASPCA.
