Dr. Hoyt Turner Morris
June 8, 1947 - April 1, 2019

Dr. Hoyt Turner Morris of OKC, formerly of Ada (age 71)

Born June 8, 1947, in Ada.

Died April 1, 2019, at his home in Oklahoma City.

Parents: Gene and Bobbie Morris.

Dr. Morris graduated from Ada High School in 1965, joined the U.S. Navy in 1967, serving our country until 1972 as a captain/radio technician in USS Ticonderoga. He obtained his bachelor's degree in psychology from East Central University, Ada, in 1973; doctorate in psychology from Texas A&M in 1978.

He was employed from 1979-1981 with the OKC Police Department, where he developed the therapy program for police officers. That program served as a blueprint for police department therapy programs across the state.

In 1981, Dr. Morris started his own private practice, establishing the eating disorder program at Mercy Hospital.

He was an avid outdoors man, particularly fly fishing. Master craftsman and wood worker, specializing in canoes and boats.

Survived by William Turner, stepfather, Ada; Winifred Watson, sister, Ada; Lori Lungaard, niece, Ada; Marni Monly, niece, Phoenix; Jack Harrell, nephew, Willis, Texas; numerous other family members and friends.

Private memorial for family and close friends on Saturday, April 13, in OKC.
