Hector Armando Cardenas
Birth Date: October 13, 1936
Death Date: May 6, 2019
Hector Armando Cardenas, age 82, returned to his heavenly home on May 6th, 2019. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God sustained him and ultimately gave him peace.
He was born in San Antonio, Texas on October 13th, 1936 to Isolina and Jesus Cardenas. As a young man, Hector graduated from Central Catholic High School and went on to graduate from Texas A&M University in 1959 with a degree in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics. That same year in August he married his childhood sweetheart, Virginia Ann Diaz. He then served in the Army at Fort Bliss, Texas before going to work for IBM.
The majority of his vast work experience was at Texas Instruments in Dallas where he worked for 42 years before he retired in 2001.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Isolina and Jesus Cardenas and his oldest son Michael Anthony Cardenas.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Virginia Ann Cardenas, his children and their spouses James Andrew Cardenas, Virginia Ann Haralson and Fred Haralson, Gregory Allen Cardenas and Anna Cardenas, Lisa Annette Cardenas, Michelle Andrea Boston and Mitch Boston; grandchildren Brandon Miller, Aaron Haralson, Christina Brannon, Alexandra Boston, Katie Boston, Brock Scarcella, Grace Cardenas, Emily Cardenas, Caroline Cardenas, Claire Cardenas, Olivia Cardenas, great granddaughter Natalia Sanzo, and his two sisters Irma Cardenas and Elva Martinez.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved to go to his grandchildren’s games and plays and cherished all our family gatherings.
Hector loved his parish life at St. Paul’s especially his ACTS brothers. He was a devout man who gave of himself generously to his parish community and his TI friends.
His hobbies included photography, new age music, and following professional soccer.
He had a kind heart and had time for everyone who needed his help, his wisdom or his quirky humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and all those whose lives he touched.
There will be a Vigil/Rosary at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church 720 South Floyd Road, Richardson, Texas on Friday, May 17th at 7:30pm and the Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, May 18th at 9:30am with a reception following at the Parish Center. Interment will be at Restland Cemetery.
