Kerry R. Livengood
October 2, 1952 - March 27, 2019

Kerry R. Livengood of Chapel Hill, Tennessee was called to heaven peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 after a long battle with cancer at age 66.

Kerry was born in Maryville, Tennessee on October 2,1952 to Rayford and Roxie Livengood. After graduating from high school, Kerry went on to study at the University of Tennessee where he graduated with his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Forestry. He continued his education earning his Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from Texas A&M University. Kerry loved adventure
and travel. He worked and lived several years abroad in Nepal, Ethiopia, and Kyrgyzstan. He loved being outdoors, especially in the mountains and climbed many in his beloved Smokies, as well as the Himalayas, Alps, and Rockies. Kerry was an avid runner for over 45 years, completing marathons, triathlons, and hundreds of 5k and 10k races. He loved bluegrass and
contemporary Christian music, and enjoyed playing the guitar and banjo. Above all, Kerry was a man of great faith and a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Kerry was employed as a Forest Resource Analyst for the past 11 years at the Tennessee Division of Forestry, Department of Agriculture in Nashville, Tennessee. He was a member of the Tennessee Forestry Association, Society of American Foresters, and Geographic Information Council. Kerry was able to work on the fire fighting efforts of Gatlinburg in 2016 in which he felt was his proudest career accomplishment. He worked all throughout his cancer journey up until the end, enduring many difficult cancer treatments. We are extremely grateful for his coworkers' kindness and support over the last 20 months.

Kerry was a member of Christ Community Church of Franklin, TN where he looked forward to the worship music each Sunday morning and fellowship with his church family. He was a founder of the Stewards Garden at the church where he enjoyed working in the garden for his community. Kerry ministered by washing dishes on Wednesday nights after fellowship meals at
his church. He was also a Deacon at Grace Presbyterian Church of Alexandria, Louisiana for many years prior to moving to Tennessee.

Kerry is survived by his wife Pamela (Casey) Livengood; his six children Katie Harper (Nick), Rebecca Leach (Tyson), Susannah Livengood, Emily Branch (Taylor), Christian Livengood, and Benjamin Livengood; his father Rayford Livengood; his four grandchildren Lucas Leach, Landon Leach, Levi Leach, and Wren Harper; his sisters Sandra Combs (Gary), Carol Francisco (Ben), his brother-in-law Johnny Casey (Melinda); his nephews and nieces, Sam Bible (Wendie), Christy Rollins (Rodney), Maggie Lomax (David), Josh Casey (Kayt), Isaac Francisco (Lei), Micah Francisco, Jesse Francisco (Amber), Jennica Gomez, Juliana Eckles (Kendall); great nieces and nephews Mac and Maddie Bible, Sibylla Lomax, Madison and Maddox Francisco, Gia and Ava Gomez, Zoey and Mia Francisco, Kennedy Eckles, and Emberlyn and Colston Casey. He also had a large extended family of uncles, aunts, and
cousins.

Preceded in death by his Mother, Roxie (Reynolds) Livengood; Grandparents Jamie and Mirl Reynolds, Rev. Clinton and Lillie Livengood; and nephew in-law David Lomax.

Kerry’s family would like to thank Dr. Julie Means-Powell and her staff at Tennessee Oncology for her commitment and dedication, the staff of Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro for their loving attention, and the 4th-floor Nurses of Williamson County Hospital for their kindness, love, and care. Throughout it all, Kerry faced cancer with courage and optimism. Even at the end, he was joyful and at peace knowing that he would soon run into the arms of our Savior Jesus Christ.
