James Ellis Higgins
February 24, 2019

Memorial services for James Higgins 89, a life-long resident of Hereford, will be held at
2:00 pm Friday March 15, 2019 at First United Methodist Church, with Revered Kevin Bushart, pastor officiating. Cremation services are under the professional supervision Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mr. Higgins passed away Sunday February 24, 2019.

James Ellis Higgins was born January 4, 1930 in Hereford, Texas, to Jim and Ella Margaret (Roenfeldt) Higgins. James graduated from Hereford High School in 1947, where he participated in sports, was an honor graduate and was named outstanding graduate. James graduated from Texas A & M, where he majored in Wildlife Management. He was Commanding Officer of the Coast Artillery for several years and graduated with Honors. James
served from 1952 thru 1954 in the US Army as a Lt. where he was a heavy artillery instructor.

James met and fell in love with Helen Markham, they married November 14, 1954. He farmed in the Milo Center Community until 1998. James coached Little League, was President of the Hereford Athletics Booster Club, Volunteer for 4-H, served on Water Board and was a founder of Hereford Gun Club.

James passion are his children, grandchildren, bird hunting, fishing, Herd, Aggies, Cowboy football and first and foremost GOD. The legacy he leaves are his wife of sixty-four years Helen, one son James Franklin and wife Susan of San Angelo, one daughter Laurie of Hereford. Two grandchildren Seth Higgins and wife Ashley of Ft Worth, Sally Higgins of Birmingham Ala. and three great grandchildren Haddie, Louis, and Ford Higgins of Ft. Worth.

Preceded in death by his Mother and Father, brother, Hilton and Sister Margaret London.
