December 7, 1950 – February 14, 2019
It is with a mournful heart that we announce the passing of Kim Westfall. He died peacefully with his beloved wife, Margo, and daughter, Brooke, at his side after complications of heart surgery. Kim was a wonderful man who is missed and will always be cherished
in the hearts of the many he touched.
Kim was an Information Technology guru who began his love of gadgets at an early age. He was born on December 7, 1950 in Detroit to an Air Force pilot father, Donald Westfall, and a homemaker/nurse mother, Joan Westfall. He was a military kid who moved often
but eventually landed in Hurst, Texas where he graduated from L.D. Bell High School.
He received a BSEE degree from Texas A&M University (class of 73) and a Master’s in IT from Georgia State University. He remained a fervent Aggie fan through the thick and thin of many football seasons. He spent seven years in the Air Force working in communications
before retiring as a Captain and moving into electronic engineering in the private sector for ~30 years. Thereafter, he ran an IT services company for ~10 years. Kim gave back to his community as a volunteer IT advisor and instructor for several nonprofits.
He was above all a family man with a heart as big as Texas. He loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, and his friends, all of whom are infinitely better for having had Kim in their lives. He had a captivating
sense of humor that quickly put people at ease. He had a passion for early American history with a particular fascination for the Founding Fathers, and was an avid coin collector.
Kim is survived by his wife Margo, daughters Brooke Westfall and Amanda Lentz, and son, Mark Westfall, along with his brother Lynn Westfall (and his wife Judy), sister Jill Robinson (and her husband, Carl), sister-in-law Patricia Westfall, cousin Bill Taylor
and extended families including grandchildren Logan Lentz, Alec Westfall and Beverly Westfall and well-loved nieces and nephews. Paving his path to eternity are his parents and his grandson, Hayden Kastner, who all will no doubt watch over him.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday April 6th at Saint Stephen’s in-the-Field Episcopal Church in San Jose, CA. A committal with military honors will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Friday April 5th at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa
Nella, California. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
