Dr. Shinichi Takami, Ph.D. Agronomy 1974, passed away on 9 November 2018 at the age of 77, due to acute aortic dissection. He had a business trip the day before and showed no sign of any health problems.
He was born 9 August 1941 in Nobeoka, Miyazaki, Japan.
He obtained his B.S. in Agronomy, 1966, University of Kyoto, Kyoto, Japan and his M.S. in Agricultural Engineering , 1968, University of Kyushu, Fukuoka, Japan. He obtained his Ph.D. in Agronomy, Texas A&M University under the supervision of Dr. C.H.M. van Bavel. The title of his dissertation was "The Distribution of Carbon Dioxide Released from a Ground Level Area Source in a Field Crop and Its Predicted Influence on Crop Assimilation'.
He is survived by his wife and a son, both residing in Japan.
