Robert "Rob" Preston Cook
September 11, 1956 - January 22, 2019

Robert “Rob” Preston Cook entered the presence and glory of God on Tuesday, January 22, 2019. He was born in Mineral Wells, TX on September 11, 1956. As a young boy, his family moved from Abilene, TX to Corsicana and lived in a house on Dobbins Rd where he along with his brothers had newspaper routes. Rob’s newspaper route was the source of many of the plants and seeds he planted in their yard. In high school, Rob enjoyed being in Acapella choir and performed in the musicals. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church Youth Choir and toured with the choir every summer. After attending Navarro College for a couple of years, Rob went to Texas A&M where he met his future wife, Margo Knight of San Antonio. While at A&M, Rob enjoyed being a part of the Singing Cadets and Margo and her girlfriends were his “groupies”. On August 25, 1979, he and Margo were married in a little church in Zuehl, TX. They decided to live and start their family in Corsicana. On September 19, 1983, Rob and Margo were blessed with twins (Andrew and Audrey). Four years later, on August 17, 1987, their youngest son (Kyle) was born. In the early years of their marriage, Rob was active in the Warehouse Living Arts Center and was one of the first people to pursue the renovation of the Palace Theatre. Rob and Margo were also involved with the music, children, and youth ministry at Northside Baptist Church.
For the last twenty years, Rob has served the community through his business, Blossoms Floral. With his business, he has been able to touch many lives by his artistic expression in floral design and his compassionate care for the people he served. If you were to step inside Rob’s flower shop on a Saturday afternoon, you could hear the sound of the Metropolitan Opera through his radio.
One of Rob’s greatest joys over the last several years has been spending time with his grandkids - Kaeleigh, Jaxson, Tucker, Lillie, Kenlee, Owen, Karame, Aden, Alijah and Libby. “Papa,” as they call him, enjoyed baking and gardening with them in his home, attending all their varied activities – church, school, sports, and youth expo, and watching them be baptized. Rob believed the most important relationship in life was with our Savior Jesus Christ and after that, his wife.
He was preceded in death by his father Leland Cook, Jr., and grandson Aden Cook. He is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Margo Cook; daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Russell Reed; sons and daughters-in-law, Andrew and Amber Cook, Kyle and Candace Cook, and 9 grandchildren; his mother, Sue Cook; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Byron and Kay Cook, Ken and Paula Cook, Lance and Karen Cook, and Brad Cook; in-laws, Lovelle and Eric Nord, Karen and Buddy Overstreet, Adrian and Debbie Knight, and many nieces and nephews. A service of celebration will be held Sunday, January 27 at 2:30pm, at Northside Baptist Church, 2800 N Beaton St, Corsicana, TX 75110. Visitation will be Saturday, 5:00-7:00pm at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the caretakers during the last several months, especially Bristol Hospice Pathways and John Arnold, for his time and friendship. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
