Karen Demny Stephens
SEPTEMBER 19, 1957 – FEBRUARY 13, 2019

Karen Yvonne Demny Stephens, 61, passed away on the 13th of February, 2019, surrounded by family and loved ones at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas. Born in 1957, in Houston, Texas, Karen attended Aldine High School and was Captain of the Vaquera Dance Team. She proudly served as her hometown FFA’s “Vegetable Day Queen.” Karen began her career at Sperry Univac, and later pursued a career in public education. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration at Texas A&M (1979), and a Masters of Education from Sam Houston State University (1997). Karen spent the majority of her career teaching in Conroe ISD and New Caney ISD, finishing her career as an administrator. Growing up, Karen loved spending time outdoors on her family’s farm off Shepherd Hill Road. She loved to cook and entertain friends and family in her home, and was highly regarded for her warm hospitality. Karen found so much joy in raising her two children and considered them to be her life's greatest accomplishments. Karen is survived by her parents, Kathryn and Norbert Demny of Seguin; brothers Chuck Demny of Seguin and Stephen Demny, wife Pam, of Belton; and her two children, Shelby Stephens of Austin and Zak Stephens, wife Adrianne, of Conroe. Karen has several living aunts and uncles, and a great many cousins. A public viewing will be held on Sunday, February 17th, from 3-5 PM, at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas. The funeral service will take place Monday, February 18th, at 2 PM at the same location. Burial will be held privately at Rosewood Cemetery in Humble, Texas. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the 12th Man Foundation. Special thanks to the medical team at Baylor Scott and White Hospital for their outstanding commitment and care for Karen during her time as a patient in the intensive care unit.
