David L. Williams
October 30, 1932 - February 8, 2019

In honor of David L. Williams who passed away on February 8, 2019 at The Hospice of East Texas at the age of 86.

Dave was born on October 30, 1932 in Henderson, TX to LeRoy and Violet Williams. He graduated from Odessa High School, the Class of 1951.

As a member of the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M, Dave’s leadership ability earned him the rank of Commander “A” Engineer. His other campus activities included membership in the Odessa Home Town Club. Dave graduated in 1955 from A&M with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree and a commission in the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Upon completion of his military service, Dave entered into the oil field tank construction and repair business with his father. Later, he worked as a Registered Professional Engineer in pre-stressed concrete manufacturing, plant facilities, and public water supply operations for the State of Texas.

“Super Dave” was an avid cyclist, proud owner of a sweet carbon Serotta bike, and a long-time member of the Tyler Bicycle Club. Dave competed in numerous rides and races throughout the years with his friends and family, including Beauty & The Beast, Rude Dog, Hotter ‘n Hell, Cycle Oregon, and a ten-day ride following the same mountainous routes of the 2004 Tour de France.

Dave was a longtime member, along with his wife Jean, of Grace Community Church.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Peter and Tony Williams; his sister,
Meredith Graves; and his wife, Jean Williams. He is survived by his daughter, Angela Williams; daughter-in-law, Pam Normandy; son, Walter Williams; step-daughter, Teresa and step-son, Lynn Smart. Other surviving family members include his sister-in-law, Nita McElroy and husband Pete; his brother-in-law, Allan Walker and wife Claudette; son-in-law, Russell Smart and grandson, Ben; his step-granddaughter, Stephanie Davis and husband Michael; his step-grandson, Steven Moore and wife Katie; and his precious great-grandchildren, Kylee, Chloe, Brody, Brooke and Harper who love their “Pa Dave.”

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 15, 2019 at Stewart Family Funeral Home from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Rose Hill Cemetery, with the memorial service held at 10:00 a.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home followed by a reception.
