Donald Wayne Lively Sr.

Donald Wayne Lively, Sr. passed peacefully from this life February 5, 2019. He is with his Lord, rejoicing with his loved ones. Donald was born to Eugene Claude Lively, Sr. and Mary Ethel (Denson) Lively May 25, 1932, in Grapeland, Texas. He is survived by three children: Donald Wayne Lively, Jr.and wife, Terrie of Las Vegas, Sandra Lively Morris and husband, Wayne of Grand Prairie, and Robert Lively and wife Vera of Cantonment, FL.. Six grandchildren: Jessica McBee and husband Brian, Scott Lively and wife Abbey, Zachary Morris and wife Sara, Caitlin Morris Marek and husband Kevin, Giovanna Lively, and Alyssa Lively Wingard and husband Matthew; and four great grandchildren: Brianna McBee, Aidan McBee, Azariah Marek and Cooper Ray Lively. He is preceded in death by his parents, his 9 siblings and one grand daughter, Rachel Michelle Morris.

Donald went to school and graduated from Grapeland High School in 1949. In 1952, he was drafted into the Army where he served 2 years, one year in Korea. On June 12, 1952, he met the love of his life, Beverly (Broughton) Lively and they were married on January 29, 1955. They celebrated 64 years together.

Donald worked for Temco in Grand Prairie for 5 years and went to Arlington State College, soon transferring to his beloved Texas A&M. He graduated in 1962 and went to work for Ford Motor Company. After Ford, he bought a ranch near Ben Wheeler, Texas, where he raised cattle and hay. After retiring, he and Beverly moved to Hilltop Lakes, Texas. He was a faithful member of Hilltop Lakes Chapel. He was a school board member at Martins Mill School and the Normangee School districts. He was a member of the Texas Silver Haired Legislatures. A member of Hilltop Lakes Lions Club. He enjoyed putting out the American Flags along the entryway of Hilltop Lakes on holidays. He was a member of the VFW and Honor Guard. He was a volunteer ambulance driver for HTL for many years ready to serve where he could. He loved calling Bingo on Wednesdays and joking with the all the crowd. He was always ready to help his neighbors and friends.

He loved driving and seeing the country. He and Beverly had their RV and were actively travelling with friends to many places all over the country. He loved his place at Hilltop and had a great love for all things “project.” He was ready to build, restore, repair, and beautify whatever he could in His beloved shop. He loved travelling to Chandler and getting a new set of pecan trees to plant.

He was a charming, magnetic personality who never met a stranger, and the mischievous twinkle in his eye will never be forgotten. He made many friends over the years all over the country and will be greatly missed.

To honor his life, a visitation will be held at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home, 3001. S. College St. Bryan, Texas, Friday February 8, between 5-7 pm. A memorial service is pending at Hilltop Lakes Chapel and will be announced later.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wounded Warrior Project or to Stillcreek Ranch Children’s Home.

Donald Lively, 86, of Hilltop Lakes, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, in Temple. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm, Friday, February 8, 2019, at Callaway-Jones Funeral Centers, 3001 South College Ave, Bryan, Texas 77801. Cremation services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers, Bryan-College Station.
