Dr. Don Brown, 84, beloved son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend, of Friendswood, Texas, was called home by his Heavenly Father on Friday evening, January 4, 2019, at Houston Hospice.Don was born on September 7, 1934 to Robert and Ida Brown in Goose Creek, Texas, the youngest of three children.

Following graduation from Luling High School in Luling, Texas, 1952, Don attended Texas A&M College before transferring to Southwest Texas State University. He graduated from SWT in 1956 with a degree in Accounting. He then joined the US Navy and remained on active duty until 1959 and served in the Navel Reserves until 1976 when he retired as a lieutenant commander.

In January 1968, Don and Sue moved to Beeville, Texas where Don taught at Bee County College, and Sue taught at Pettus Elementary School. In August, they moved to College Station where Don completed his PhD in mathematics education and Sue completed her Masters and PhD.They spent four wonderful years in Aggieland. They next moved to Alvin, Texas where Don was an Associate Dean and Sue taught mathematics at Alvin Community College.Their son Brad was born in 1977 followed by Andrew in 1981.Don retired from ACC in 1999.

Don was a talented designer and builder always looking for a new challenge. He designed and constructed his home in Friendswood, a cabin in Dripping Springs and a barn in Luling. Don served as scout master and watched his boys achieve the rank of Eagle Scout under his leadership. After retirement, Don was never short of projects and constantly spent time on one of his two lathes or helping his boys with projects of their own. He loved spending time on his farm at Luling especially when his family was there to enjoy it with him.

Don was proud of four things: his naval service, being an aggie, his marriage to Sue and his wonderful sons.Frequently when returning from events with his children, he told Sue how blessed they were to have Brad and Andrew for sons. What wonderful people they were.
