Cave Meek Wann, age 91 of Temple, died Thursday, January 10, 2019 at his residence. Services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 19th at First Christian Church in Temple with Rev. Mike Snell officiating. Burial with military honors will be at 3:00 PM
at Brooks Cemetery near Paluxy in Hood County. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM Friday, January 18th at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
Cave was born November 9, 1927 to Edgar Brooks Wann and Mary Arizona Wann. By the time Cave was two years old, he had lost both of his parents. He came to live with his father’s brother, Ben Wann and wife, Montie Wann. They became his parents and he was welcomed
by their five children, James Wann, Cynthia Wann McIntire, Lometa Wann, Jean Wann Edwards, and Glenda Wann Morgan.
After graduation from Tolar High School in 1945, Cave joined the Army Air Corp where he served until the end of World War II.
When the war ended, he returned home to Paluxy and enrolled in Tarleton State College completing their two-year program. Next, he enrolled in Texas Agricultural & Mechanical College in College Station, and graduated in 1952 with a degree in Agricultural Engineering.
Following his Texas A&M graduation, he began his working career as a professional engineer in Stanton, TX. With each promotion, came a change of residence. He moved from Stanton, to Knox City, to Abilene and finally, in 1964, he made his last move to Temple
where he worked as an engineer for the Farmer’s Home Administration.
Cave was a member of the First Christian Church of Temple since 1964. He served his community in many ways. For example, he belonged to the Temple Founder Lions Club for 54 years, a member of Gideons International for 38 years, and a member of Mended Hearts
since 1976 and several years as an Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 150.
Cave was a kind and caring man. He could often be found under the hood of someone’s car doing repairs. Helping total strangers, friends, and acquaintances with their needs was a common practice for him. He was a faithful servant for his Lord and went on many
mission trips to repair or build new church buildings until his late 80’s.
We believe that Cave was greeted at Heaven’s gate, with “Well done my good and faithful servant”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James, sisters Jean and Lometa, and grandson Gabe Kelley. Survivors include his son, Jim Wann and wife Melody and daughter, Carol Wann Kelley, four grandchildren, Tiffany Moffett and husband, Brady, Nicholas
Wann and wife, Stori, Colleen Kelley and Christopher Kelley and 12 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Gideon’s International or Texas Lions Camp.
