Floyd “Joe” Hendrick Joyer went home to dance with the angels on Sunday, December 30, 2018. He was born on October 31, 1945 in Temple, Texas to Francis Floyd Joyer and Frances LaJuan Hendrick.

Joe graduated from Texas A&M University in 1967. During his time there he was a Yell Leader, was in the Corps of Cadets, and was a true representative of the meaning of the 12th Man. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1967 and retired as a Captain in 1971. While in the air force Joe received a Commendation Medal for investigation of a crash in Louisiana.

On July 22, 1967 Joe married Karolyn Joyce Moore in Graham, Texas. They had two daughters, Jennifer M’lyn and Leigh Ann. Karolyn preceded Joe in death on January 6, 1981.

Joe remained in Graham and married Toni Adene Dixon on August 6, 1988, celebrating 30 years of marriage this year. Joe served as Rotary Club President and expressed his love of life and laughter by writing and performing skits for the Rotary Club Follies. Joe also shared this joy by playing the lead in several productions of the Graham Community Theatre.

Of all of his many accomplishments, Joe was most proud of his work as Founder of the Red, White, and You Parade, honoring active service members and veterans; his participation in The Wounded Warrior Project; and Co-Founder of The Dean Smith Celebrity Rodeo contributing to The John Wayne Cancer Institute.

He loved his time in Oxford, Ms. He had numerous friends. He was active in the First Presbyterian Church. Joe enjoyed the early morning Bible study groups and breakfast with his friends. His time in Oxford brought him great joy.

Joe had a very strong faith. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and served Him well. Joe loved family, friends, and life. He never met a stranger and always stood up for what he believed. He loved to dance and to make people laugh, but was happiest when surrounded by family.
