William Robert Freeman
December 3, 1927 - January 7, 2019

William “Bill” Freeman, 91, of Georgetown, Texas, went to rejoice in God’s love and glory in Heaven on January 7, 2019 surrounded by his wife, Anita and their three children.

Bill was born in Denton, Texas, on December 3, 1927 to William H. Freeman and his wife, Clara Joyce (Bodenheimer) Freeman. He grew up in Paris, Texas, and graduated from Paris High School. He received a B.S. in Business and Accounting from Texas A&M University and his Air Force officer commission in 1948.

Bill began his over 30-year career with Burroughs Corporation (now Unisys) as a salesman of accounting machines in Longview, Texas and Dallas while on reserve duty with the Air Force. He was called to active duty and served as the Supply Officer for Bitburg Air Base, 1954 through 1956. Bill was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Occupation Medal (Germany). He returned to Dallas to continue his career in sales of computers and business machines for Burroughs. He then worked at Burroughs' Detroit headquarters, followed by many years in the Memphis and Kansas City offices. He served as the Kansas City Branch Manager and retired in 1986. Bill received numerous awards from Burroughs including 11 consecutive years in their Legion of Honor and several years on the President's Honor Roll. Bill and Anita moved to their home in Sun City in 2006 to enjoy the warmer weather and be closer to their grandchildren.

While living in Dallas, Bill met the love of his life, Anita (Kundmueller). They married on July 12, 1958 and had three children: William A. Freeman of Plano, Texas; Robert K. Freeman of Merritt Island, Florida; and Laurie Stock (John Stock) of Georgetown. Bill and Anita recently enjoyed a beautiful 60thanniversary celebration together with their family in Sun City. In addition, Bill is survived by seven grandchildren.

Bill always supported and enjoyed his children's and grandchildren's many activities including school and sporting events, and Boy Scout hikes and camping trips. Bill loved golfing and vacations with extended family, especially winter visits to Hawaii. Bill and Anita were very close with their Sun City friends and had fun at the neighborhood activities. He worked out with Anita and their personal trainer at the Sun City Fitness Center twice a week until November 2018. Bill was a big fan of his Texas A&M Aggies, Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City sports teams and his children's alma maters (Kansas and Ole Miss). He and Anita enjoyed attending the Royals and Chiefs games while in Kansas City.

Bill had a strong faith in God. His love, morality, patience and service provided a powerful example to his family and the community. He attended church every Sunday and served as an usher/greeter at all of his churches including Christ United Methodist in Memphis, St Paul's in Lenexa, Kansas, and Wellspring in Georgetown. He was a key member of the Building Committee at St Paul's, handling the finances for a major addition.

He was a charter member of Alexander Hamilton Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), serving as treasurer from 2011 to 2016. He was recognized by the Texas A&M Association of Former Students for his extensive support of the Century Club.

Bill was an extremely loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend and coworker. He was known by all as a true gentleman.

Visitation will be held at Ramsey Funeral Home, 5600 Williams Drive in Georgetown, 9-11 am Friday, January 18 prior to Bill being laid to rest at 12:00 noon in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 State Highway 195, Killeen, Texas 76542.
