Donald Redwine
JUNE 6, 1940 – JANUARY 6, 2019

Loving husband and father Donald James Redwine, 78, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, January 6, 2019 from a two year battle with pancreatic cancer. Don was born to the late Robert and Helen Redwine on June 6, 1940 in Houston, Texas.

Don graduated from Texas A&M College in 1963. He was a brilliant electrical engineer with a successful career at Texas Instruments for over 47 years. He has over 40 United States patents credited to his name. His passion for math and science continued to be a hobby well after retirement, and he never ceased to solve the unsolvable math problem. Don loved reading math and physics books for fun, traveling, spending time with his family, playing golf and the never ending struggle to obtain the hole in one on the golf course. He loved playing with his granddaughters and making people laugh with his dry humor and subtle jokes. Don was a generous and loving man who deeply treasured his family.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Delores of 49 years; along with two daughters; Laura Redwine Morris of Fairview, Texas, and Julie Marie and Lance Clinton Von Hollen of Mansfield, Texas; three beautiful granddaughters Lauren Elizabeth Morris, Leia Marie Von Hollen and Emma Grace Von Hollen. He is preceded in death by his son Theodore James Redwine. He is also survived by his brother William and wife Shirley Redwine; and brother Robert and wife Betty Redwine, as well as loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Delores, Laura and Julie would especially like to extend a heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Philip Kavoor at Texas Oncology, the doctors and nurses on the research team at the Mary Crowley Research Center at Medical City Dallas, the precious nurses and caregivers with Total Hospice and Palliative Care, and CareStaf who made Don as comfortable as possible.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 1 pm with services immediately following at Grove Hill Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. Burial will be held at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, Texas on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 2pm. In honor of Donald Redwine, memorial contributions may be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
