APRIL 4, 1928 ~ DECEMBER 30, 2018 (AGE 90)

Decatur ~ Tom Harris, 90, of Decatur went to be with our Lord Sunday, December 30, 2018 in Decatur, Texas.

Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church in Decatur. Family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur. Burial will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the Aggie Field of Honor Memorial Cemetery in College Station, Texas.

Rev. Brian Bosworth will be officiating. Pallbearers include Lawson Harris, Layton Harris, Justin Thomason, Rex Wallace, Kyle Jenkins, and Ronnie Hall.

Tom was born April 4, 1928 to William and Maude (Alexander) Harris in Flora, Mississippi. He joined the United States Navy in 1946 during the tail end of World War II. Upon being honorably discharged after the war, he stepped foot off the boat and went directly to College Station, Texas where he graduated from Texas A&M University in 1952 with a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science. Tom was in the Cattle business ever since. He worked for the Bridwell Ranch in Windthorst, Texas, owned a feedlot in Hereford, Texas called Pre-Feeders Incorporated, and then moved to Kingsville, Texas in 1976 where he ran 2 divisions of the King Ranch Feed Lot for over 15 years before retiring.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert Harris; and his sister, Martha Walker.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his sons, Ty Harris and wife Kim of Decatur, and Krece Harris of Decatur; his grandchildren, Lawson and Layton Harris, and Kyene and Shye Harris, along with their mother, Stefanie Harris; his brothers, William Harris of Jackson, Mississippi, Dr. John Harris of Bryan, Texas, and George Harris of Dallas, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
