John Emery Ray
1946-2018 John Emery Ray, 72, died December 24, 2018 at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Tx. Born Oct 4, 1946 to Betty Jo (Bertschler) Ray & John Earl (J.E.) Ray in Beaumont. He was preceded in death by his father, J. E. Ray. Survivors include his wife of 49 ½ years, Jan (Nycum) Ray, son John Paul Ray of Nederland and daughter Jamie Gaudet & husband Brian of Nederland; granddaughters Samantha Gaudet & Laurynn Ray of Nederland; mother Betty Jo Ray of Beaumont; brothers Bill Ray (Mary)of Nome & T. J. (Rhonda) Ray of Beaumont and sisters Laura Wheeler & Jane Kempleyof Beaumont. Also numerous extended family & many friends from his various volunteer endeavors that included the YMBL, FOE Aerie 2313, Quota International of SETX, Cooks2Dozen and A&M Former Students Association. John was a 1965 graduate of French High School and a 1969 graduate of Texas A & M University in College Station, TX. After college he served in the National Guard 144thTransportation Unit in Beaumont, TX. He taught at French High School from 1970-73 and then went to work at DuPont, Beaumont Works, until retiring in 2001. He was an avid golfer, softball player, volunteer and cheerleader for everything involving his granddaughters! A gathering of family & friends will be held at 4pm on January 6, 2019 at The Praise & Worship Center of Wesley United Methodist Church, 3810 N Major Dr., Beaumont TX 77713.
