October 7, 1943 - December 27, 2018

Jordan Allen “Jacky” Brooks Jr., age 75, of Pearl River, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018, in Slidell, Louisiana.

Jacky was born on October 7, 1943, in Orange, Texas, and in 1961, moved with his parents, to Troup, Texas, where he graduated from Troup High School in 1962. He earned a Bachelors Degree from Texas A&M in 1966, and began teaching at Slidell High School the same year.

On March 17, 1967, Jordan entered the United States Air Force Officer Training School at Lackland Air Force Base where he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant on May 27, 1967. In 1970 he rose to the rank of Captain and was placed in charge of all competitive marksmanship ranges for the US Air Force.

While at Lackland AFB, he earned his M. Ed in Guidance and Counceling from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio.

Upon leaving the Air Force in 1971, Jack began his Doctoral Studies at Texas A&M, and entered the Air National Guard of Texas. In 1972 he came back to St. Tammany Parish and began teaching English at his beloved Pearl River High School. In 1973 he transferred to the Louisiana Air National Guard and met the love of his life, Janice Danna. They were married in Independence, Louisiana, on November 17, 1973.

Mr. Brooks is survived by his wife Janice Danna Brooks; a daughter, Heather; granddaughter: Jordan Elizabeth; a brother: Dean; two sisters: Linda Sue, and Barbara.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Dean; and a sister: Blanche.

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, in Slidell, Louisiana.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by Masonic Services at 11:00am, and Funeral Service at 11:30am.

Burial will be with military honors, at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell.

Memorial Gifts may be made to ones favorite charity.
